Petition Drives are Successful NOTE: The information below discusses the success of petition drives originally done back in 2003. Since that effort was ultimately blocked in court, a new petition drive effort is being initiated now to obtain at least 25,000 signatures in the first few months of 2011 in suppport of the option for Choose Life license plates in Illinois. Please help make this new petition drive effort as successful as the earlier one!
Examples of Successful Petition Drives Done in 2003 Petition drives to gather signatures in support of Choose Life license plates in Illinois have been organized at a growing number of churches. Often 500 to 800 signatures are obtained at the weekend services. Over 800 signatures were obtained at St. Edna's in Arlington Heights, IL, thanks to the efforts of Pro-Life Corrdinator Cathie Cleary with help from parishioner Al Eberhardt. The petition drive at Transfiguration Parish in Wauconda, IL was organized Pro-Life Coordinator Mary Ann Fijalkiewicz and her husband, Jim, with the support of Pastor Thomas Enright. They gathered 608 signatures and accepted donations for 80 Choose Life license plate holders.
Fr. Enright buys 5 license plate holders (2 for his car and 3 for his sisters) from Mary Ann.
A second table was arranged to collect signatures at another entrance at Transfiguration Church.
A line of people waiting to sign the petition occurred after Mass at Transfiguration Church.
Jim provided help to put Choose Life plate holders on cars when requested.
